Terms of Use

Terms governing the use of The MoSS digital platform.

Draft policy · not yet finalised

01

About the website

Welcome to the digital platform of The Museum of Street Style. The website provides information about institutional development, exhibition concepts, research initiatives, editorial publications, digital collections and related cultural activity.

The MoSS is an institution in development. A permanent public museum is not operating through this website. Proposed facilities, exhibitions and programmes are subject to development, review and change. The legal entity operating the platform remains to be confirmed for these draft terms.

02

Application of these terms

These draft terms describe intended conditions for access and use, subject to applicable law and legal review. Browsing alone is not represented as an affirmative acceptance of an agreement. No paid services or visitor bookings are currently offered through this website.

If you have questions about permitted use, contact the institution before reproducing or distributing materials. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be limited.

03

Intellectual property

Website design, original text, branding, exhibition materials and research may be protected by copyright, trademark and other rights. Photographs, video, audio, objects and archival documentation may belong to individual creators, contributors or other rights holders rather than The MoSS.

Credits and rights statements should be consulted for each item. The MoSS does not claim ownership of every work it documents. Development imagery is identified as such and does not establish ownership, provenance, permission or a real institutional event.

04

Permitted use

You may browse the website and reference it for personal study, education and research, subject to applicable law and any item-specific terms. Limited quotation or reproduction may be allowed by law; these terms do not remove statutory exceptions.

A general licence for commercial reproduction, redistribution, modification or publication of site materials is not granted. Obtain any necessary permission from the relevant rights holder before use beyond legal exceptions. Retain attribution and do not imply institutional endorsement.

05

Images & archival materials

A publicly viewable digital image or object record is not automatically available for unrestricted reuse. Underlying works, photographs and associated records may have distinct rights holders and restrictions.

Use the Photography / Image Licensing inquiry on the Press page or the Collections & Archives category on the Contact page to request reproduction information. Identify the item, intended use, format and distribution. A request is not a licence; permission must be expressly confirmed by the appropriate rights holder.

06

User submissions

You retain ownership of materials you submit. You should only provide information or materials that you are entitled to share, with appropriate regard for copyright, privacy, confidentiality and the interests of people represented. Describe information accurately and distinguish recollection, opinion and verified fact.

Sending an inquiry permits its private receipt and review for the purpose of considering your request; it does not transfer ownership, constitute an acquisition or grant public-display rights. Separate, explicit agreements are required before acquisition, licensing or public publication of contributed materials.

The institution may decline a proposal or request clarification. Do not send originals or sensitive materials through an unagreed channel. To request withdrawal, correction or deletion, use the Contact page and identify the submission. Legal or legitimate record-keeping requirements may affect what can be removed; no unconditional deletion guarantee is made.

07

Visitor stories & review

Visitor stories and corrections are suggestions for private review, not automatically published contributions or verified historical records. Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the Collection, Journal, an exhibition or any other programme. Do not include information you are not entitled to share or unnecessary sensitive information about yourself or others.

Authorised staff may use AI-assisted summaries and suggested tags as private review aids. These outputs are not automatically published and are not proof of accuracy. Any public use of your contributed story or material requires a separate, explicit agreement; submitting it does not transfer ownership or grant a publication licence. Information handling is described in the Privacy Policy.

08

Founding Community & accounts

Joining the Founding Community is free. It records your interest in helping build The MoSS; it is not a purchase, donation, paid membership or promise of future benefits. Dispatch consent is optional and separate. Welcome emails and Dispatch delivery are not currently active.

Creating a member account is separate from joining the registration list. Keep your sign-in credentials secure and do not share them to give others access to restricted content. A free community account does not grant staff privileges or automatically unlock paid-member experiences. Access depends on your account’s recorded eligibility.

09

The Reading Room

The Reading Room is a digital research library for eligible active paid members and authorised staff. It includes research publications and may connect to the Founder’s Note and New York Is the Runway Viewing Room. The availability of these experiences does not mean paid enrolment is open; membership payments are not currently accepted through the website.

Eligible readers may use publications for personal study, education and research, subject to applicable law and item-specific rights. Saving an item bookmarks it in your personal library; it does not transfer ownership, create a downloadable copy or guarantee permanent access. Recorded progress helps you return to your reading. Removing a save does not necessarily delete its progress record; see the Privacy Policy for deletion requests.

Where a publication offers a print or download option, that option does not grant unrestricted redistribution or permission to share restricted content. Do not share account credentials or republish member-only texts without the necessary permission. Copyright exceptions and other non-waivable rights remain unaffected.

Research and citations may be corrected or updated, and individual publications may be withdrawn. No fixed publication frequency, monthly edition, permanent archive entitlement or uninterrupted access is promised by these drafts. Future paid terms must explain access, changes, renewals, cancellations and refunds before any charge is offered.

10

Acceptable use

Do not attempt unauthorised system access, introduce malicious code, evade security or submission limits, conduct automated abuse, submit fraudulent information, harass others, misrepresent identity or affiliation, infringe rights or interfere with website functionality.

Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary for security or to address abuse, subject to applicable law. Use of legitimate research and accessibility tools is not, by itself, abusive. Contact us if a security measure creates an access barrier.

12

Accuracy & corrections

The MoSS seeks accurate and reliable institutional information and cultural documentation. Research can evolve as new evidence emerges. Attribution, dating and interpretation may require revision.

Report factual errors through the General Information or Research & Education category on the Contact page. Include the page URL, the proposed correction and supporting references where available. Proposed content and development records should not be treated as verified acquisitions or confirmed programmes.

13

Exhibitions & programming

Exhibition concepts, programme descriptions, future schedules and facilities may change. Development labels distinguish proposals from operational activity. No visitor booking or attendance entitlement is created by viewing a proposed programme.

Programme-specific access, accessibility arrangements and terms will be announced only when the relevant programme is ready and approved.

14

Memberships, donations & payments

The website receives inquiries, Founding Community and Dispatch registrations and visitor submissions, and provides member accounts and restricted reading experiences. It does not currently accept membership fees, donations, purchases or event payments. No tax-deductibility representation is made.

Any future paid services will have their own terms disclosed before purchase; these draft terms do not create payment, renewal or refund arrangements. Free registrations and prospective supporter or membership inquiries are not transactions or binding financial commitments.

15

Website availability

Access may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, security or technical reasons. Content may be updated, corrected or withdrawn. The institution does not promise uninterrupted service or permanent availability of every item.

If a service disruption prevents access to information, you may request assistance through the Contact page when it is available. No fixed service or response period is represented.

16

Disclaimers

Website material is provided for cultural information and research. It is not personalised legal, financial or professional advice. Historical interpretation and development proposals should be understood in context.

Any legally applicable warranties or consumer protections remain unaffected. These draft terms do not make broad claims that all information is error-free or that every implied warranty can be excluded.

17

Liability

These draft terms do not set a monetary cap on liability or claim a blanket exclusion of responsibility.

Nothing here is intended to exclude liability where exclusion is unlawful, or diminish non-waivable rights. The liability provisions remain provisional.

18

Governing law

Governing law, legal operator and any appropriate dispute forum have not yet been confirmed. No jurisdiction, court or mandatory arbitration requirement is asserted in this draft. These draft terms do not establish a dispute forum or mandatory arbitration process.

19

Changes to these terms

Revisions will be identified by an updated date. Material changes to a future contractual service may require additional notice and an appropriate acceptance process. Archived institutional-document revisions are retained for authorised review.

Proposed future provisions do not apply to inactive services merely because a draft is visible on the website.

20

Questions about these terms

Questions about these terms, permissions or factual accuracy can be sent through the Contact page. Privacy requests should use its Privacy category and are also addressed in the Privacy Policy.

These terms remain a draft, not a final legal agreement. They describe the current website and do not establish terms for future services.
