The MoSS — The Museum of Street Style
The MoSS / Participate

Culture is worth
preserving.

The histories that shape the way we dress are often preserved through photographs, personal collections, oral traditions, and the memories of the people who lived them. Without intentional preservation, these histories can disappear. The Museum of Street Style is being established to document and protect this cultural record for future generations.

Your interest and support can help shape what the institution becomes.

01Why support matters

What we don't preserve, we risk losing.

Some of the most influential expressions of style have emerged outside traditional cultural institutions. They have developed in neighborhoods, music scenes, schools, clubs, communities, and everyday public spaces.

The garments, photographs, publications, and personal histories associated with these movements can offer extraordinary insight into the world. Yet many remain undocumented, privately held, or vulnerable to loss.

The MoSS is being developed to help address this gap. Our ambition is to create a lasting institution where these histories can be researched, preserved, interpreted, and shared. Supporting this vision means recognizing that cultural history extends beyond the runway and deserves a permanent place in the historical record.

02Our development priorities

Help build the foundation.

The MoSS is currently establishing the foundations required for long-term institutional development. Our priorities include:

  • 01

    Research & Documentation

Developing research initiatives that investigate the origins, evolution, and global influence of street style.

  • 02

    Archival Preservation

Planning responsible systems for documenting and preserving garments, photography, publications, and personal histories.

  • 03

    Exhibitions & Public Programming

Developing exhibitions and educational experiences that bring cultural histories to wider audiences.

  • 04

    Institutional Development

Establishing the professional, organizational, and financial infrastructure required to build a sustainable museum.

  • 05

    A Future Physical Home

Exploring the long-term development of a permanent museum.

These are development priorities. Funding has not been secured and these programs are not yet operational.

03Ways to support

There is more than one way to help build a museum.

  • Founding Philanthropy

For individuals and families interested in discussing substantial support for the museum's development.

  • Institutional Support

For foundations, cultural organizations, and other institutions interested in exploring aligned funding opportunities.

  • Cultural Contributions

For individuals with historically significant garments, photographs, publications, or personal archives who would like to begin a conversation about preservation or research.

  • Professional Expertise

For individuals interested in contributing relevant knowledge in museum development, archival preservation, research, education, or institutional governance.

Organisations exploring collaboration can also visit Partnerships.

04A note on financial contributions

Building responsibly.

The MoSS is currently developing its institutional and financial infrastructure.

We welcome preliminary conversations with prospective supporters about the museum's long-term vision and development priorities. Formal financial contributions, sponsorship agreements, and any applicable tax treatment will be addressed through appropriate documentation once the relevant organizational arrangements are in place.

No payments are accepted through this website, and contributions are not described as tax-deductible. A donation system may be introduced in a future phase after legal and financial review.
