Governance
An institution built for cultural preservation. Designed to endure.
Intended governance framework · not a formally adopted policy
01
Our institutional principles
The Museum of Street Style (The MoSS) is being established with a commitment to responsible leadership, institutional independence, public accountability and the preservation of cultural history.
Our ambition extends beyond the creation of exhibitions or the development of a physical museum. We are building an institution intended to serve artists, researchers, communities and future generations.
We believe that the responsibility of preserving culture requires thoughtful governance, transparent decision-making and a sustained commitment to the public interest. As The MoSS develops, these principles will guide the establishment of its leadership, advisory structures, institutional policies and long-term operations.
Cultural Responsibility — We recognise that street style emerges from communities, lived experiences and collective histories. Our responsibility is to document these histories with accuracy, sensitivity and respect for their origins.
Institutional Independence — The MoSS seeks to maintain independent curatorial and research judgment. Financial contributions, commercial relationships and institutional partnerships should not compromise the integrity of our exhibitions, scholarship or collections.
Public Accountability — We believe that cultural institutions should operate with clear responsibilities, ethical practices and appropriate transparency regarding their activities and decisions.
Representation and Inclusion — The histories of street style cannot be understood through a single geography, community or cultural perspective. We intend to incorporate diverse voices and expertise into the development of our exhibitions, research and institutional leadership.
Long-Term Stewardship — Our work is intended to extend beyond individual exhibitions, cultural trends or generations. We aim to establish systems that support the preservation and responsible interpretation of cultural material over time.

Founding leadership
Egomeli Hormeku — Founder, The Museum of Street Style.
The MoSS was conceived by Egomeli Hormeku as a new cultural institution dedicated to documenting and preserving the global influence of street style. The founding vision recognises street style as an important expression of identity, creativity, community and cultural change.
The institution is being developed with the ambition of establishing a permanent museum, alongside a research institute, digital archive and international exhibition programme. A permanent public location has not been announced.
As the organisation develops, additional leadership and professional appointments will be announced through official institutional channels.

Proposed Governing Board
Establishing independent institutional oversight.
The MoSS intends to establish a governing board responsible for the institution’s long-term stewardship, financial oversight, strategic direction and adherence to its mission. The board has not yet been established.
The proposed board will bring together expertise across cultural preservation, museum administration, finance, law, education, philanthropy, architecture and the creative industries.
Its expected responsibilities include protecting the institution’s mission and public purpose; providing appropriate financial and organisational oversight; supporting responsible fundraising and institutional development; establishing and monitoring ethical governance practices; overseeing executive leadership through formally adopted governance procedures; and supporting the institution’s long-term sustainability.
The composition and formal responsibilities of the board will be published following its establishment.

04
Curatorial independence
Culture deserves independent interpretation.
The MoSS is committed to developing an approach to curatorial practice grounded in historical research, scholarly integrity and respect for cultural communities. Exhibitions and collections should be shaped by evidence, research and informed interpretation rather than commercial influence.
We recognise the importance of partnerships with designers, fashion houses, collectors, cultural organisations and other supporters. Such relationships should operate within clear ethical boundaries that protect the museum’s independence. This principle does not represent any partnership as confirmed.
The MoSS intends to establish formal policies governing sponsorship, conflicts of interest, collection acquisitions and curatorial decision-making.
05
Advisory council
Knowledge is a collective responsibility.
The MoSS plans to establish an interdisciplinary advisory council to contribute expertise to the institution’s development. The council has not yet been established.
Potential areas of expertise include fashion history, cultural anthropology, museum studies, archival preservation, photography, architecture, contemporary art, music and cultural history, education, digital humanities and community history.
Advisory appointments will be announced as they are confirmed. The advisory council is intended to provide guidance and specialist knowledge. Its role will be distinct from that of the governing board.
Planned advisory council · formal establishment not yet announced
06
Ethics & accountability
The MoSS recognises that cultural preservation carries responsibilities to creators, communities, lenders, donors, researchers and the public.
As part of its institutional development, The MoSS intends to establish policies addressing conflicts of interest, responsible acquisitions, provenance research, intellectual property, cultural sensitivity, financial accountability, sponsorship and donor relationships, research integrity, privacy and data protection, and responsible collection stewardship.
These policies will be developed with appropriate professional guidance and reviewed as the institution evolves. This statement describes intended governance principles, not a claim that all formal policies have already been adopted.
07
Institutional development
The Museum of Street Style is currently in its founding and development stage.
Its institutional priorities include establishing an appropriate legal and governance structure, developing professional leadership, building its research and archival capacity, and securing the resources required for long-term operations.
The MoSS intends to communicate significant institutional milestones as they are achieved.
